Missing Links

Missing Links (real name: Boris Nihom, 1981) has been involved in making music for as long as he can remember. He started playing drums at the age of 4, started recording his own compilation cassettes from national radio at when he was only 10 years old, bought his first hiphop and drum&bass records at 15, and played his first official gig as a dj at club Melkweg in Amsterdam when he was 17. Today, 8 years since that first gig, he has developed an extremely broad taste for music. From old soul and funk, via hiphop and nu-soul, to broken beats and drum&bass. The only common factor in all of his dj-sets is his love for funky beats, fat basslines and soulful instrumentation, his inspirations ranging from Marvin Gaye and Herbie Hancock to Carl Craig, J Dilla and Marc de Clive-Lowe. Missing Links is known to rock any dance floor with his varied combination of electronic and sample based music, often spicing up his set with the use of various filters, effects, samplers and drum machines.

Next to playing in all major clubs throughout The Netherlands and abroad, Missing Links has stood at the foundation of popular parties like Wicked Jazz Sounds and Girls Love Dj’s. Highlights of his dj career include a gig at the Lowlands festival in 2005, a residency at Supperclub Rome (IT), a series of sold-out Girls Love Dj’s parties at Paradiso (Amsterdam) and the annual St. Bernardsday party in the centre of Amsterdam on queensday. Nowadays, Missing Links is a resident dj for wickedJazzsounds, Girls Love Dj’s and club Jimmy Woo. Also he is involved in organizing a series of small, underground parties under various names, where he gets the chance to really surprise a curious crowd with futuristic beats from across the globe. Since 2006, Missing Links also started producing his own music, which will lead to several releases in the coming year.
